Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about our botanical offerings

What is kava and is it legal?
Kava is a traditional Pacific Island root beverage. At House of Legends it is served as an earthy, slower-paced non-alcoholic option. Start with one serving, wait before ordering more, and ask staff if you are new to the category.
How will kava make me feel?
Most guests describe kava as earthy, calming, and conversation-friendly. Individual responses vary, so the safest approach is to start light, give it time, and avoid treating the first visit like a speed run through the menu.
What are functional mushrooms and are they psychoactive?
Functional mushrooms like lion's mane, reishi, cordyceps, and chaga are used here as food-and-beverage ingredients in lattes and elixirs. We position them by flavor and occasion, not as a substitute for medical advice or guaranteed outcomes.
What is blue lotus and what does it feel like?
Blue lotus is a floral botanical ingredient that we frame as dreamy, calm, and evening-friendly. Guests usually choose it when they want a softer post-dinner pour rather than a caffeinated or cocktail-led direction.
Are your botanical drinks safe? Any contraindications?
If you are pregnant, nursing, taking medications, or managing health conditions, check with a clinician before ordering. On-site, we recommend starting with one drink, asking about ingredients, and not mixing kava with alcohol.
Can I drink kava and alcohol together?
No, we strongly advise against mixing kava with alcohol. Both substances affect the liver, and combining them can increase the load on your liver and intensify sedative effects. We recommend enjoying your kava experience separately from alcohol. Our staff will not serve alcohol to guests who have consumed kava, and vice versa, for your safety.
Which drink should I try first as a beginner?
For kava beginners, start with the Kava Colada or Kava Shell Traditional and give it time before ordering more. If you want a floral evening drink, ask about blue lotus. If you want something brighter, start with a tea-led energy or focus option instead.
Will these drinks show up on a drug test?
We do not market botanical drinks as a workaround for workplace or athletic testing. If testing is a concern, the safest path is to skip the drink or confirm directly with your employer, clinician, or testing provider.
